French for Beginners

This program is designed for students with no to limited French knowledge. The goal of this course include the acquisition of communication skills in spoken French in everyday situations as well as an understanding and knowledge of French life, its customs and culture.  Writing, listening, speaking and reading skills are developed in a variety of methodologies including the use of printed dialogues, simulations, role-playing, and a range of written and oral exercises.

Continuing Second Language French

This course is designed for students that have had previous French Language exposure.  Building on the goals of our French for beginners class, there is added emphasis on the international aspects of the French Language.  Manners and customs of France and other francophone countries are studied.  The course utilizes a wide range of oral and written techniques to build and improve speaking and reading skills; to enhance vocabulary; to teach methods of oral analysis of documents and texts; and to learn how to manipulate grammar ad language structures.

Beginning Spanish

Offered Session 1 (July 27- August 14)

12:30 - 3PM

Instruction in this class will provide an introduction to the basic key elements of Spanish which will enable the student to develop verbal, listening and writing skills. Students will also learn about the aspects of Spanish & Latin American culture.



Intermediate Spanish Readiness

Offered (July 27- August 14)

9AM - 11:30

This course will cover grammar, written comprehension/skills, and vocabulary to help provide a foundation for further Spanish language studies. Students will work in the present tense, progressive present, past tense, and near future. Students will write short essays about subjects such as family, school, and weekend activities. Additionally, this course is designed to provide insight into Hispanic culture while also emphasizing the diversity among Spanish-speaking countries.
