French for Beginners


For students with no prior French (open to the general public) This Program is designed for students with no or limited knowledge of spoken French. Approximately 150 million people speak French as either a first or second language in more than 52 countries around the world. It is also one of the top ten business languages in the world. Learning French will allow you to open more doors of communication and expression in an increasingly diverse world. Students in this program will discover both language and culture in this accelerated French program. The goal of this course will be to introduce elements of every day conversation, global Francophone culture and traditions as well as the acquisition of basic listening and speaking skills. Instruction will focus on everyday vocabulary. Conversation will use simple topics related to daily life. Phonetics exercises and drills ensure that participants quickly attain correct pronunciation.


Intermediate French


Open to the general public Students must have completed our French for beginners class or have a minimum of 6 months informal French education (such as tutoring) or equivalent experience. This Class builds on elementary French, increasing the level of vocabulary, enabling participants to express themselves in different contexts. Class work focuses on French culture and society as uncovered by hands on activities such as board and role playing games, songs, Claymation, cooking and more. Emphasis is placed on participants' oral expression, and listening comprehension skills. Phonetics exercises and drills ensure that participants quickly master correct pronunciation and intonation.
